Both of the characters, Arthur and Tessa, were practically made for each other. I just loved everything about them - I loved their whole banter and totally saw them falling in love pretty early on.
I can't wait to read the The Royal Treatment was hilarious from start to finish. I can't wait to read the second book today!! Jun 05, Paula Phillips rated it really liked it. Her days are now spent blogging and reviewing items like the new electro-shock belt for running. Her most popular blog is a Political site where she rants about the royal family of Avonia especially Prince Arthur. Prince Arthur is heir to the Tessa Sharpe has been unlucky in love and the workforce, especially after her latest love conquest with her boss ended up with her leaving her job as a reporter, as it was either that or be fired for a sexual harassment claim as it was her word against his.
Prince Arthur is heir to the throne and Tessa sees him as a playboy - sleeping around and drinking and well - having fun. With the referendum coming up of the possibility of dissolving the royal family and the votes not being in the royal families favor. Prince Arthur decides to open up the castle to his worst critic blogger Tessa Sharpe. Tessa reluctantly accepts and moves into the castle. During the time at the castle though Tessa starts to like Prince Arthur and see him in a different light. One of my favorite parts of this book was the relationship between Tessa's brothers and herself, and I loved how Arthur stood up for her.
The characters are comical, down-to-earth, and fetching; while the plot is a hilarious romp following the misadventures of Prince Arthur, and the Royal Watchdog, Tessa Sharpe. I absolutely loved this book, it had me laughing from start to finish. This is the ultimate romantic comedy, and I definitely recommend! View all 4 comments.

Arthur- The prince in the royal family trying to win over people's opinions invites Tessa to stay with him for two months to change her opinion This book was so good! I didn't want to stop reading it! I'm a sucker for modern day royal romance stories and I'm so happy this book delivered! I think the romance could have dragged on a bit more but aside from that a fantastic read! I'm for sure going to have to look into. Ore works from this author! Prince Arthur has always kept to the public but now the Prime Minister wants to extinguish monarchy he'll have to take drastic measures. That's how Tessa ends up invited to live in the palace f Why did I take so long to get to this wonderful comedy? That's how Tessa ends up invited to live in the palace for two months, in hopes she'll change her view and of her followers'. Of course, this is still chick lit and there's not much that will discern it from many others.
Even though the authors try to apply a realistic view of the prince's daily activities, which was very interesting, it wasn't anything new. To be honest, as a journalist, Tessa was very naive to think he'd just sit there all day long. I'm not criticizing—to be honest, I loved going back to that world, especially since the author never wrote anything else after the duology. The things is that the similarities made me aware of plotholes. The most prominent example is Arthur's sister, who he describes as fragile and implies something may have happened to her before.
If the series meant each book would explore a different character, I'd understand that was a teaser for the second number, but it's not the case. What we see from the princess is a quite strong-willed woman—the very opposite of what happens in His Royal Secret, where these very words eventually developed into a dramatic subplot plus reason for, well, let's stop here and go back to this book.
What I mean is that we had a lot of ways the plot could have deepened but never did. I'm sure some of those won't be dead ends and will come in later volumes, but it made the book seem to go to next level and in the end I was disappointed that was all. My other issue was the unnecessary drama due to stupid misunderstandings. I thought we had left the cliche behind a decade ago, so I felt impatient having to go through the same drama any Hallmark Chanel movie will repeat ad nauseam.
In any case, this was still a very enjoyable romantic comedy. I may have my problems but it was just that I started the book and I could immediately see the quality. I honestly wasn't expecting, and that's why in the end I took it seriously. But as a pleasure read, this is perfect. It'll keep you entertained with that silly smile we want when getting books like this to read. Also, we have a pig for a pet, how different is that? I highly recommend this to any fans of romantic comedies.
Honest review based on an ARC provided by Netgalley. Many thanks to the publisher for this opportunity. I adored this book. I laughed through the whole thing and the romance was so sweet. It was serendipitous that Amazon recommended this book to me at a time when I really needed a good, pick-me-up read. I'm a sucker for a royal romance, and The Royal Treatment provided me with one that was absolutely swoon-worthy, as well as some hearty laughs. The premise of the book is a clever one--Fearful that an upcoming vote might mean the end of the monarchy in Avonia, Prince Arthur needs some good PR for his family, so he invites Tessa Sharpe, the most ardent anti-royalist in the blogosphere, to come and stay at the palace for a couple of months, thinking that if he can win her over, the rest of the country will follow suit. Tessa is determined to stay objective and report the facts too bad the facts are that Prince Arthur can be quite charming when he wants to be and he looks smokin' hot without his shirt.
Will Tessa be able to resist temptation? Can Arthur finally let down his guard and be real with someone? And how can they ever trust each other when they're both harboring secrets and hidden agendas? The chemistry between the two leads in this book was palpable; they were combative, playful, and steamy, sometimes all in the same scene! It was easy to see why they fell for each other, and also why getting involved was a very bad idea as they were not only idealistically opposed, but came from completely different worlds.
The development of their relationship is a roller coaster ride of emotional ups and downs, and I empathized and wanted to shake some sense into both Arthur and Tessa at various points. In other words, this was a great, wonderfully complex love story and the royal backdrop upped the stakes considerably.
I loved the way the author wove humor throughout the fabric of the story, starting with a hilarious incident involving Tessa and her bestie, Nikki, early in the book. This incident becomes a viral video that's continually referenced as the story progresses, and it never stopped being funny! I, also, smiled every time Dexter, Arthur's pet pot-bellied pig, showed up on the page. He had a lot of personality and was a great sidekick for the prince! Arthur's grandmother, plain-spoken Princess Dowager Florence, was a hoot as well.
I got a kick out of her trying to matchmake Arthur and Tessa. The Royal Treatment ends in an appropriately grand and romantic way, and I'm looking forward to seeing what comes next for Arthur and Tessa in the follow-up. I'm so glad to have discovered this author and hope she keeps writing delightful stories with memorable characters like this one! I can categorically say this that I have, after a really long time, found an author I would genuinely looking forward to in the future.
The book is just perfectly airy and sweet to give that heady romantic feeling, and just enough thorough in its plot to steer you away from any possible headaches over plot loopholes. And the cover.

So darn minimalistic. I love it! This book was hilarious!!! I was needed a light funny read and this was it. I laughed, I cringed at some funny but mortifying situations. I highly recommend it if you like light hearted romantic comedies. While the comparison to The Hating Game didn't hold up, this was still a fun read.
It was romantic and very funny. If you like Sophie Kinsella or Meg Cabot, make sure to check this one out!

May 12, Ayekah rated it it was amazing. It's no secret I love anything MJ Summers writes. She gave me my first book boyfriend in the Full Hearts Series, I'll be forever grateful for that one. This book is the first of a new series and a bit different for her writing and she just bats it right out of the park. The book has it all.
Throw in huge amounts of humor and I'm running to the bathroom This story is about Tess who writes an anti-monarch blog, living in a country that still has a King as ruler and a Prime M It's no secret I love anything MJ Summers writes. This story is about Tess who writes an anti-monarch blog, living in a country that still has a King as ruler and a Prime Minister. Tess has some issues with the way the royal family doesn't show itself. Which leaves a lot of room for speculation and some really great writing on her part.
I loved Tess, she's a bit klutzy, sweet and as the only girl among 4 brothers she's the butt of far too many jokes. When Tess makes a comment about the royals and the oh so handsome Prince Arthur, he throws down a challenge for Tess to come and spend 2 month at the castle and living there and seeing exactly what he does do all say. Tess can't back down from the offer and with a rumor the PM is trying to bring a vote to dismantle the monarchy Arthur is on overtime. He's really sweet. These two were like oil and water when they first met, not enough to be annoying, just the little barbs that Tess was so good at throwing.
Arthur would get one in now and then but for the most part he went with it. Having had his men do a complete background check on her, right down to her bra size-yep, he knew how to manipulate her just enough. Arthur has a pet pig name Dex. I loved the pig.
When things get real between these two that's when the story gets really personal between these two, Arthur losing his Mother at a young age, how much she loves crisps, he goes home with her to a family birthday party, things heat up between these two and the inevitable happens. The royal sheets have a high thread count Things sail along nicely, there are some well placed twists in the book which I'm not spilling and when the Prince's father comes home, the whole house gets tense.
Arthur stands up to his father and defends both Tess and how the people of the country deserve better. Leave-In Treatment. Styling Products. Heat Protectant. Curl Enhancing. Hair Color.
